Data Modeler

Overview: Abacus Technology is in need for a Data Modeler to lead the development and configuration of an enterprise statistical data model. This is a short term position lasting six months and supports the Energy Information Administration (EIA).

Major Duties & Responsibilities: Provide direct support to the SSAM Data Specialist and act as a key member of the business intelligence IPT. Develop and publish enterprise subject area diagrams, conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Analyze source system data to understand the data structures, definitions, and anomalies. Research and document data definitions for all subject areas and primary data sets supporting the core business operations applications. Develop data management documentation for communication and education to the program and statistical information technology communities. Conduct data classification, defining data taxonomy and data ontology for key subject areas, data structures, and solutions. Regularly interact with program office personnel to collect data definition and data classification information. Serve with the SSAM Data Specialist as the Functional Name Space Coordinator and BI Metadata Repository Administrator.

Qualifications: 5+ years experience in data modeling including at least 2 years in gathering requirements and making architectural decisions. Bachelor s degree in a related field. Experience in designing and documenting a target data model across the ITIL framework. Demonstrated experience designing architectures, developing architecture strategy, documenting the definitions, and implementing related solutions. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to successfully managing effective relationships with suppliers and customers. ITIL and/or Six Sigma certification highly desirable.
