Field assessment and design engineer with experience in quickly assessing emergency sewer repair needs. Work with sewer utility O&M and construction staff to define problems, define short term and long term objectives, identify site physical, regulatory, flow, environmental, and stakeholder constraints and obstacles, and communicate these conditions to engineering design team, or complete engineering designs himself. Work with sewer utility operations staff to stabilize emergency. Experience in replacement sewer design and rehabilitation in urban environments desired. Desired experience in replacement work includes alignment evaluation, hydraulic evaluations, conceptual design, material selection, through detailed construction design, for gravity sewers, especially trunklines, interceptor, and forcemains. Rehabilitation Work includes infrastructure evaluations and knowledge of trenchless rehabilitation methods. Work with sewer utility O&M group to optimize O&M procedures to minimize emergency conditions.
Basic and Required Qualifications:
* Minimum years of experience: 5-12 years experience
* Education required: Bachelors degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
* Registrations/Certifications required: Current D.C. PE License or current PE License from another state without restrictions, so you could obtain D.C. PE immediately.
* Skills required: Strong verbal and written communication skills, experience with sewer utility O&M and construction, field assessments and design engineering problems and objectives definition, and the ability to communicate these to your team. Knowledge of infrastructure evalutations and trenchless rehabilitation methods.
Additional and Preferred Qualifications:
* Education preferred: Masters degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
* Registrations/Certifications preferred: Current D.C. PE License.
* Years experience preferred: 8+ years experience.
* Skills preferred: Strong team leadership, project management, and client skills strongly preferred.
* This position does require travel. Travel amount is negligible.
* A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required for this position.
* This position does manage others.
