Staff Assistant will provide administrative support to the Directorate of Operational Medicine. 

The incumbent must be proficient in standard office computer programs to include Microsoft Office, Microsoft SharePoint, Google Earth, Adobe Acrobat, and other standard office computer programs.  The incumbent will provide direct administrative support the Office Director and other high level officials throughout the Department of State.  The incumbent performs administrative work duties in support of the following areas (1) program support; (2) office management support; (3) communications support; (4) scheduling support; (5) information management support; (6) travel support; and (7) budget support.  Administrative work performed in these areas require a thorough understanding of office routine, organizational command relationships, and familiarity with Program Office goals/objectives, as well as familiarity with written and unwritten policies, precedents and regulations. 

The Staff Assistant must have a working knowledge of relevant travel rules and regulations, to ensure that all Program Office travel complies with applicable laws and rates established by the General Services Administration and/or the Department of State. Develops travel itineraries using E2 Solutions Website and, as necessary, makes travel arrangements directly through the Carlson Wagonlit travel service.  The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the management of diplomatic passports and visas for the Program office personnel traveling abroad. Assists the Program Office in preparing an annual budget for mid-year and end of the year budget reviews to include contacting vendors for price quotes, conducting online research and drafting explanatory materials/justifications to accompany budget submissions.


Microsoft Office: 3 years

Administrative: 6 years supporting USG or private sector


Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required
