Associate Director, Public Policy Operations

The Associate Director of Policy Operations is responsible for providing planning and management support for key Alzheimer’s Association public policy processes and projects. These activities include: managing special campaigns and initiatives on behalf of the Chief Public Policy Officer; supporting the Alzheimer’s Impact Movement’s Board of Directors and providing project management support for the annual AIM Advocacy Forum and other events.
This position is based in Washington, D.C. and, reports to the Director of Operations and works closely with the Chief Public Policy Officer.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Supports the Chief Public Policy Officer through:
· Planning and managing key cross-departmental projects and initiatives
· Supporting work with the National Alzheimer’s Project Act (NAPA) Advisory Council
· Researching and preparing materials for written communications and key speaking engagements
· Assessing, reporting on and acting on specific topics as requested
· Supports the Alzheimer’s Impact Movement (AIM) board and AIM operations by:
· Managing all pre- and post-meeting activities relating to AIM board meetings to ensure their success including scheduling, meeting notes and monitoring progress on assigned tasks
· Serving as primary day to day liaison to support their work
· Tracking and assessing AIM revenues and expenses
· Managing logistics of the AIM corporate renewal process
· Coordinates planning activities to all or part of key events, including:
· The AIM Advocacy Forum
· Capitol Hill briefings and other occasional special events
· Ensures the coordination of ongoing Public Policy functions in keeping with established processes
· Monitors and analyzes Public Policy performance metrics throughout the year
· Other projects and duties as assigned.
· Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Public Policy, Political Science, or Health Policy
· Minimum 5 years of progressive work experience requiring project management skills and familiarity with public policy
· Excellent written and oral communication skills to communicate clearly and accurately, with staff, volunteers, public officials, and outside organizations, in person, in writing, and over the telephone
· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
· Proficient with Google suite, including spreadsheets. Familiarity with a CRM software and databases a plus
· Keen organization, time management, and flexibility to adapt to changing opportunities and balance competing priorities while meeting deadlines
· Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed for the job
· Ability and willingness to travel (up to 10%) to local chapters and federal coalition meetings
