JOB SUMMARY: The Employment Specialist networks with public and private employers to develop employment opportunities for clients. This position collaborates with internal and external referral resources to assist clients in gaining job skills, soft skills, and education and training needed for successful employment and employment retention.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform individualized job readiness coaching and mentoring to clients.
• Assist clients in gaining employment through connection to job openings, job fairs, and employment open houses.
• Provide training and education to eligible clients at employment orientation and information sessions.
• Host and teach job readiness classes that assist clients in building skills consistent with employment goals.
• Cultivate and maintain productive relationships with employers and potential employers and with community contacts and diverse organizations that provide job training or other educational benefits and services to clients.



Requirements
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

• Associate degree.
• 2- years of experience working with diverse populations in a social service setting.
• 1-year experience in job development.

SKILLS and COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

• Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.
• Ability to use good problem-solving techniques.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse clients.
• Ability to work well independently and with a team.
