JOB SUMMARY: The Medical Assistant performs comprehensive clinical and administrative medical assisting duties in the behavioral health medication clinic that serves adults with serious and persistent mental illness, many with co-occurring somatic and substance abuse disorders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure all consumers have vitals completed at least quarterly and document when consumers refuse to have vitals taken.
• Print lab reports daily for any and all labs ordered by Providers.
• Print notes from DBH’s EMR (ICAMS) for new consumers being seen for initial Psych evaluations.
• Administer medication for consumers.
• Serve as liaison between doctors and consumers.
• Assist with obtaining medication authorizations as needed.
• Document all services in the electronic health record within 24 hours of providing services.



Requirements
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

• High school or GED.
• Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
• One-year experience working in a Behavioral Healthcare setting.
• One-year experience working as an assistant.

• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
