JOB SUMMARY: The Medical Receptionist welcomes visitors and clients, answer telephone calls, and perform various administrative duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Welcome all persons entering the facility and answer incoming telephone calls.
a. Greet visitors/clients in a professional manner.
b. Answer telephone calls and route calls to appropriate person. Answer preliminary non-medical questions.
c. Promptly notify staff of the arrival of their appointments. Utilize the Behavioral Health Electronic Health Record (EHR) as needed to identify the assigned staff person and/or supervisor.
d. Schedule appointments for doctors in Electronic Health Record (EHR) and organize the doctor’s calendars for the Medication Clinic.
e. Serve as liaison between doctors and consumers.
f. Make reminder calls for next day appointments.
g. Call consumers and reschedules cancelled or missed appointments within 48 hours of missed appointment.
h. Update insurance information as necessary in the EHR.
• Track and monitor the visitor and other log books (vehicles and conference rooms).
• Maintain usage of office machines (Xerox, fax and printers). Report elevator outages as necessary.
• Schedule educational luncheons for staff in the clinic.
• Create consumer IDs and upload ID pictures in Electronic Health Record (EHR).



Requirements
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma; Associates Degree Preferred.
• Two year’s administrative experience working in a physician’s office.
• Experience working in Behavioral Healthcare setting preferred.

SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:

• Ability to operate a multi-line telephone console.
• Written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to organize an office, handle multiple tasks concurrently, and work effectively with consumers, doctors and a team.
• Ability to interact appropriately with consumers with serious and persistent mental illness.
• Knowledge of computer systems (MS Office products) and ability to navigate web-based applications.
