Group Overview:

Public Policy Americas is involved in advising senior management as well as managing and providing advocacy & analytical services regarding US federal legislative and regulatory matters impacting the Bank.


In this role you will be responsible for a broad range of issues relevant to the Bank, reporting to the Head of US Public Policy. You will engage in policy matters pertaining to: Banking regulatory policy; capital markets and securities; tax; cybersecurity/fintech; data privacy; asset management; and the swaps markets. You will work closely with the US Public Policy team in their engagement with US policymakers, as well as with the Bank's business lines and subject matter experts when representing the Bank before key decision makers in Washington D.C., including Congress and regulators.

This position requires strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in order to effectively represent the Bank before legislative offices, regulatory agencies, and trade associations. Position would require registration under and full compliance with the Lobby Disclosure Act.

The right candidate for this job has 5 to 7 years of private and/or public sector experience, has an appetite to learn complex, new issues quickly, and is a team player. Must excel in a fast paced environment.


  • Excellent foundation in legislative and regulatory processes
  • Firm understanding of and familiarity with key House and Senate Committees responsible for financial related legislation
  • Tracking and analyzing legislative and regulatory proposals and final agency actions
  • Advocacy before the legislative branch, regulatory agencies, and administration
  • Research and writing related to legislative and regulatory proposals
  • Advising senior management on relevant matters
  • Support for various client focused initiatives

  • Minimum bachelor's degree. Masters or Law degree preferred, but not required
  • Candidates that have experience working with U.S. Houseleadership, including the leadership of the U.S. House Financial ServicesCommittee preferred
  • Must have an extensive knowledge of the legislative process
  • Capitol Hill experience preferred but not required
  • 5 to 7 years working on Washington legislative matters
  • Active and current knowledge of financial services regulatory issues
  • Skill at leading complex, high profile issues in a fast-paced environment
