Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the top law firms in the U.S.  Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is looking for an enthusiastic Staff Development Program Facilitator to join our team. 

This position is a key member of the Staff Professional Development team and responsible for administration and facilitation of development initiatives for the staff. Primary responsibilities include facilitating the implementation of staff department and office training and development programs, as well as partnering with the Staff Talent Development Specialist to facilitate staff career development systems.  Administration tasks include maintaining the departmental information and resources, scheduling events, and arranging facilities.

Specific Responsibilities
  •  Facilitate implementation of department and office based core skills training and development programs for staff:
    • Support collaborative relationships with firm directors, managers and administrators
    • Assist in needs assessments;
    • Facilitate delivery of internal and external training and development programs;
  • Work with Staff Talent Development Specialist to facilitate staff career development systems:
    • Facilitate programs that enhance technical, business acumen and soft skills competencies;
    • Ensure training and development presentations align with the Firm's performance objectives.
  • Participate in program development meetings.
  • Work closely with external training vendors.
  • Serve as a coaching resource to participants in staff development workshops.
  • Maintain high quality standards within the team by supporting good practices and habits.
  • Regularly research trends in adult learning and training, including differences in learning preferences of people in various generations and backgrounds.
  • Maintain schedules for delivery of internal and external training and development programs.
  • Manage and maintain event schedules and participant invites and attendance, and guest speakers.
  • Send regular updates to participants.
  • Work closely with Audio-Visual team to ensure each office is included in training sessions, as necessary.
  • Regularly communicate with team members regarding ongoing projects and initiatives.
  • Maintain department resources, training history, and other relevant departmental information in appropriate locations (e.g., OneNote).
  • Maintain and regularly update team portal site.
  • Maintain and regularly update distribution lists.
  • Travel, as necessary.
Qualifications
  •  Bachelor’s degree in adult learning, leadership, change management, or a related field, or 5+ years of equivalent experience; Advanced degree a plus.
  • Experience providing adult education training and professional development services.
  • Previous experience in facilitating staff professional development programs.
  • Demonstrated superior client service skills.
  • Adult education training background and prior experience leading workshops, seminars, or class instruction.
  • Certification in employee coaching techniques preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of firm's computer systems.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with all levels of a professional services organization, including interpersonal skills, are required.
  • Strong customer service, analysis, troubleshooting, problem solving, and follow-up skills are required.
  • Ability to explain difficult concepts to an audience; experience working with customers and staff possessing a wide range of expertise is required.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm, composed manner required.
  • A strong attention to detail and quality control required.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts quickly and independently required.
  • Must be a team player and have ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Previous experience in a law firm or professional services organization, supporting a multi-office environment, preferred.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
