The Regional HR Manager is responsible for being the primary HR point of contact and business partner for the employees and managers within the Western Territory. This role is also responsible for a broad range of HR functions for the region, including employee relations, performance management, retention strategies and employee engagement. This role would cover the Northeast and Southeast regions, which includes 80 distribution centers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Advise and coach supervisors at all levels in the organization
  • Take action in the event of concerns regarding general work environment, morale and other employee issues, address interpersonal conflicts between employees and be a confidential and unbiased sounding board for work-related issues
  • Provide qualified opinions and guidance/direction on daily HR matters
  • Participation in performance and disciplinary meetings, including termination meetings as required
  • Conduct investigations in response to employee complaints, including sexual harassment and other forms of alleged inappropriate workplace behavior.
  • Identify solutions to recurring workplace issues or concerns by collecting/analyzing data as well as relying on personal observation as input into this process
  • Monitor compliance with company policies, practices and procedures
  • Conduct on-boarding for employees and ensure appropriate on-boarding plans are in place for new hires, while also creating a standard on-boarding model for each location to use
  • Prepare employee communications as necessary
  • Ensure compliance with hiring practices, including appropriate use of selection tools, offer letters and other compliance requirements
  • Manage the hiring process, including working with other members of the management team to determine the most appropriate candidate profile and partnering with the leaders to assess internal talent and determining the appropriate resourcing strategy
  • Facilitate the relocation process, if appropriate
  • Assess internal candidate pool and work with internal and external sources to identify and recommend learning and developmental opportunities that will posture internal talent to meet future needs
  • Administer company policies and employee handbook in a consistent fashion
  • Stay abreast of changing federal, state and local laws and ensure the company is in compliance with all requirements
  • Serve as a bridge between the client group and other HR functions, such as compensation, benefits, and training
  • Proactively share client business knowledge with other HR functions
  • Demonstrates “skill and will” to defer to HR subject matter experts as needed
  • Act as a change agent to further business goals
  • On-boarding and integration with newly acquired companies

Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel domestically at least 30%
  • 8 or more years of HR Generalist experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR or related field preferred; PHR or SPHR preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a bias towards simple solutions
  • High energy level to work long hours as needed
  • Excellent people development skills, including the ability to manage ambiguity and provide structure and guidance to others
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to make independent decisions, but understands the need for input and alignment
  • Strong desire to be available and responsive in a timely matter
