Description
MBC is seeking talented certified public accountants (CPAs) with at least 1 year of experience to support financial improvement and improved auditability of the United States Department of Navy (DON) financial statements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Client Management
• Provide support to clients’ technical areas such as accounting procedures, financial reporting, internal controls test of design, test of operating effectiveness, audit readiness, and compliance services
• Understand client’s organization and industry business issues, gaps and related challenges
• Participates in team working sessions
• Prepares accurate, complete and high-quality deliverables
• Supports the operations of the engagement team and management while performing as an integrated team member.
• Perform analysis of key business processes and internal controls to identify risks and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency
• Assess corrective action plans
• Track remediation activities from process owners and stakeholders
• Validate controls related to OMB A-123 and FIAR compliance
• Design and document business operations, processes, and functions
Business Development
• Supports business development activities as directed by management
• Understands basic steps in sales cycles
• Identifies new opportunities for MBC to expand their practice

Personal / Team Development
• Demonstrates the MBC Values through behaviors; sets high personal standards for performance/conduct; supports company and practice activities
• Demonstrates ability to be a team player; works well with others; contributes positively to work/team environment while continually seeks ways to enhance contribution to the team

Requirements
Requirements:
• An active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or business-related field
• An active DoD SECRET clearance
• Proficiency with the Web, MS Office and SharePoint
• Business travel as required by contract
• Expert functional and technical skills as required by contract
• Knowledgeable of engagement or project planning and control process

Preferred Experience:
• At least six months experience supporting a federal Government entity in a relevant functional area and/or 1 year of experience in performing financial statement audits and/or auditability assessments.
• Knowledge of Department of Defense Financial Management Regulation (FMR), OMB Circulars, Treasury Financial Manual (TFM), the United States Standard General Ledger (USSGL), and/or Statement of Federal Financial Accounting Standards (SFFAS)
• Familiarity with US GAAP, GAGAS, FIAR and ICOFR
• Familiarity of Federal Internal Controls and/or other system testing
• Familiarity with DoD and/or Navy financial management policies and procedures
